Allium spp; same oxidative (organosulfur/thiosulphate) mechanism as onion → Heinz-body hemolytic anemia in both species. Less potent per gram than onion; the “natural flea remedy” claim is unsupported and not a safe dose. Step A hard-flag, both species.
What It Is

Garlic causes the same Heinz-body red-blood-cell damage as onion, in both dogs and cats. It’s often sold as a “natural flea remedy” - that’s a myth, not a safe dose. Gram for gram it takes more garlic than onion to harm, but it still belongs on the do-not-feed list.
