Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ORIA, an app by White Coat Media, collects, uses, and protects your information. The short version: we never sell your data, and the photos you scan are analysed and then discarded.

What we collect

• Account details - your email address and an encrypted password, so you can sign in and sync across devices.
• Scan photos - images you take of product labels are sent for analysis to extract the ingredients, then deleted. We don't keep your photos.
• Scan results & preferences - the verdicts you generate and settings like language, diet focus and audience, so the app works for you and your history syncs.
• Basic usage & diagnostics - anonymised data to keep the app stable and improve it.

How we use it

• To read labels and produce ingredient verdicts.
• To maintain your account, history and cross-device sync.
• To operate, secure and improve the service.
• To contact you about the service - and, if you joined our waitlist, about launch. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Service providers

We share the minimum necessary with trusted providers who process data on our behalf: cloud hosting and authentication, the vision/AI service used to read labels, and our email provider for waitlist and product updates. They are bound to use the data only to provide their service to us.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your personal data.
• We don't store your scan photos after analysis.
• We don't use your data for third-party advertising.

Data retention & your rights

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time - see our Account Deletion page or contact us. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems, subject to limited legal retention requirements.

Children

ORIA is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). The baby & child personalisation features are tools for parents and carers, not accounts for children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
