Glycol-ether solvent · CAS: 111-76-2

The VerdictSo-so

Effective grease-cutter but a skin-absorbed irritant - ventilate, wear gloves.

Why this verdict

GHS-hazardous (flammable/irritant/sensitiser) but a legitimate solvent - flagged.

What It Is

The grease-cutting solvent (butyl cellosolve) in many glass and all-purpose cleaners.

WTF Fact

The powerful grease-cutter behind streak-free glass and 'purple' all-purpose cleaners. It works well, but it's an irritant that absorbs through the skin and can affect blood cells at high exposure - so ventilate and wear gloves with concentrates, and don't huff the spray.
