ORIA looks past the front of pack to the ingredients themselves - porcine-derived gelatin and enzymes, undeclared alcohol and ethanol carriers, animal-derived additives and the E-numbers that can hide them, and ingredients whose halal status genuinely depends on their source.

Halal calls reference established standards - MS1500 and GSO among them - and published toxicology, not crowd opinion. Where the source can't be confirmed from the label, ORIA says “depends on source” rather than guessing.
